Projects around your home
You hire the neighbors son/daughter to install a small flower bed in your back yard. Over the course of a couple of weekends, they complete the work. While finishing up, your worker trips and falls, and suffers a broken wrist. Did you know that in British Columbia, you may be an employer if you hire a person who is not in business but is doing a one-time job for you, such as a neighbour you are paying to paint, or mow your lawn, or a retired carpenter who is working on a small renovation.
